Built in the 1400's in gothic style, first, the palace
was owned by noble Trevisan family, then, in the 1500's acquired by
Grimani family who owned it for two centuries. Through great
refurbishings, Grimani family improved the palace's structure, at the
time named Palazzo San Basso. The present name was given after Donà
family had bought it, making the palace their official residence.
Nowadays it is a splendid luxury hotel, a perfect balance bewteen past
and present, in which the oldest architectural features have been
improved and made functional in order to meet the needs of guests.
The facade, enriched by two magnificient mullioned windows, overlooks
directly the canal of the Doge's Palace, at the rear of the famed Bridge
of Sighs. |
The glorious hall on the second floor of the hotel
still reveals the outstanding beauty of valuable marble and beams which
have been restored by preserving their original feautures.

The main hall of the Hotel, where a rich buffet
